Research shows that physical or sexual abuse is a factor in one out of four high school relationships. That is a staggering statistic that becomes even more alarming when you also consider the prevalence of psychological, emotional, and other forms of abuse. Additional research tells us that young people are much more likely to turn to a peer for help, as opposed to reaching out to an adult, if they find themselves in an abusive relationship. The KBEP curriculum for high school students addresses the difficult issues teens face in dating relationships directly, and also explores the ways young people can support their friends in ending abusive relationships.
