For Teachers.

Teen Dating Violence is what happens in a teen dating relationship when one person uses abuse to gain power and keep control over their partner. This abuse can be physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual.

One third of high school and college students experience violence in an intimate relationship during their dating years.

Dating violence can happen to teens from all types of homes, and in families of all cultures, income levels, and educational backgrounds.

Nearly 80% of girls who have been physically abused in their intimate relationships continue to date their abuser.

Here are some warning signs to look for. If you suspect a student is involved in an abusive relationship, please check with your school for protocol.
